Abstract

|
Objectives: This study was carried out to investigate effects of Gamidaeganghwal-tang(Jiaweidaiqianghuo-tang) (GDGHT) on rheumatoid arthritis.
Methods: I analyzed the effect of GDGHT in response to mast cell migration induced by Stem Cell Factor(SCF), the effect of GDGHT in phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate plus calcium ionophore A23187-induced secretion of TNF-α, IL-1, IL-6 in mast cells, the pattern of TNF-α mRNA expression, detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction.
Results: The chemotatic response to SCF was blocked by Gamidaeganghwal-tang(Jiaweidaiqianghuo-tang) (GDGHT). When GDGHT was added, the secretion of TNF-α, IL-1 and IL-6 in the human mast cells inhibited 60.1%, 81.8%, 72.5% respectively. In addition, here I report expression of TNF-α mRNA in mast cells was suppressed by GDGHT. These results imply that GDGHT has a critical role on the treatment of the bone damage associated with rheumatoid arthritis.
